Traffic congestion at Newport Blvd / Coast Highway
This weekend from Friday, March 27 at 8 p.m. to Monday, March 30 at 3 p.m., there will only be one westbound lane on PCH by the Newport Bridge. If you're coming from southbound Newport Boulevard, the ramp to Coast Highway will be closed and you will have to detour on Hospital Road, then to Superior Road to access Coast Highway.
Starting tonight at 8 p.m. westbound Coast Highway traffic will be down to one lane and the southbound Newport Boulevard ramp to Coast Highway will be closed 24 hours a day, until Monday, March 30 at 3 p.m. With the expected weather, please be patient and allow extra time to arrive to your destination. Vehicles should detour to Hospital Road, then to Superior Avenue to access Coast Highway as shown on the map.
Beginning Monday, March 30 traffic control will resume as follows: Westbound Coast Highway traffic will be down to one lane and the southbound Newport Boulevard ramp to Coast Highway will be closed except during peak weekday traffic hours, between 3 p.m. and 8 p.m., through the end of the month.
