Arrests Made This Week
OPD Arrests Serial Carjacker – On Monday, March 23 at 11:05 PM, Oakland Police officers responded to the 4100 block of Foothill Boulevard to investigate a report of an armed carjacking that had just occurred at a taco truck stand. The victim and witnesses were able to provide a description of the suspects and the suspect vehicle, including license plate number. Less than three hours later, officers conducted a traffic enforcement stop in the 7200 Holly Street on a vehicle matching the suspects’ car. The driver, who was the sole occupant of the car, was identified as one of the carjacking suspects. He was arrested for an outstanding car theft warrant. The victim’s vehicle has not yet been recovered.
Three Arrested in Connection with Shooting; Two Firearms Recovered – On Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at 11:48 PM, Oakland Police officers responded to the 2900 block of East 7th Street for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival officers located an adult male Richmond resident suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Emergency medical services arrived and transported the man to a local hospital. The victim was last listed in critical condition. Further investigation led officers to the area of 75th Avenue and Bancroft Avenue. Officers located and detained three males associated to the shooting. Two firearms were located and recovered. An adult male and two juveniles were arrested. A Felony Assault investigator callout was initiated and investigators responded to the scene to conduct the follow-up investigation.
