Person of Interest in Cloverdale Bank Robbery Arrested in Muncie
Muncie – A person of interest wanted in connection with a bank robbery that occurred earlier today in Cloverdale, was arrested tonight after he led troopers on a pursuit on the west side of Muncie. Police had received a tip that Thomas Baker, age 43 of Cloverdale, was possibly staying in a hotel somewhere in Muncie.
Trooper Nick Razor was in the area of Forest Run and Bethel, getting ready to check hotel parking lots in the area, when he spotted a silver four door Saturn on Forest Run Dr. with a temporary tag and a driver fitting the description of Baker. When Razor attempted to stop the car it took off at a high rate of speed west bound on Bethel.
When the vehicle reached the T intersection where Bethel T’s into CR700W, the car failed to make a turn and crashed into an embankment. Baker had to be extricated from the car and was taken to IU Health’s Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
Troopers also located a female who had been visiting with Baker, in the area of the Days Inn located on Everbrook Lane just off of Forest Run. The female was cooperative with officers and surrendered a sum of cash believed to have been taken earlier today in the Cloverdale robbery. The female was later released, as it is not believed she is connected to the bank robbery.
Baker is currently being held on a warrant out of Randolph County for “C” Felony Forgery, and a Hendricks County warrant for Obtaining a Legend Drug by Fraud, one count Level 5 Felony and one count Level 6 Felony, and Theft, Level 6 Felony.
The investigation into the Cloverdale bank robbery is ongoing, and any questions regarding the bank robbery need to be directed to the Putnam County Prosecutor’s Office.
