On Saturday, April 4th at 8:00am, the Palm Springs Police Department will be hosting an Open House in conjunction with the 5th Annual RUN FOR IKE. The Open House, which will take place between 8:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., will provide the public with an opportunity to meet PSPD Police Officers and a Police K-9. PSPD will showcase displays of patrols cars, police motorcycles, specialized police vehicles and equipment. Fire equipment will also be on display with representatives of the California Highway Patrol and the Riverside Sheriff's Department. Attendees may also participate in a pet adoption through the Palm Springs Animal Shelter during the event. There will be free child fingerprinting and free bicycle registration at the event. A Police K-9 demo will be conducted during the Open House and free food from a BBQ will also be provided to attendees. The 5th Annual RUN FOR IKE 5K run/walk will begin at 8:00 a.m from the Palm Springs Police Department. The run is held in the memory of Palm Springs Police Department K-9 Officer Ike who was killed in the line of duty in 2011. Late-registration for the event will take place at 6:30 a.m. Race registrants will receive a 5th Anniversary RUN FOR IKE finisher trophy, a t-shirt, souvenir photo downloads, and a goody bag. Race registrants will be provided with a pancake breakfast following the race. Participants may bring walkers, strollers and their dogs to the race.
