SUMMARY:
On March 24, 2015 at 6:07 p.m., Deputies from the Hesperia Station responded to a reported residential burglary in progress in the 8300 block of Minstead Avenue in Hesperia. An observant citizen was reporting suspicious subjects entering a residence and believed the suspects were in the progress of a burglary. The citizen provided detailed information about the suspects, including their vehicle and continued to provide updates as deputies were responding. Upon arrival of responding deputies and a Sheriff's helicopter, suspect Nelson was contacted in a vehicle parked in the area and detained without incident. Deputies discovered evidence of forced entry to the residence and made entry where they came in contact with suspects Hilton and Arreola who initially attempted to flee out a window. Both suspects retreated into a bedroom and failed to comply with deputies orders to surrender. Both suspects resisted arrest, and after a brief struggle, both were taken into custody. Additional deputies arrived on-scene and a detailed search of the area and residence did not reveal any additional suspects. Evidence was recovered from inside the home that indicate the suspects had been in the process of ransacking the victim’s property and it is believed the suspects had planned to load property into the waiting vehicle or possibly steal a vehicle from inside the garage.
Additional evidence was located inside the suspect’s vehicle including burglary tools. It is believed these suspects are involved in other similar cases and the investigation is ongoing.
All three suspects were later booked at the High Desert Detention Center for Residential Burglary, Conspiracy to commit Burglary and Resisting Arrest. The citizen caller in this case is commended for their diligence, quick thinking and ability to provide specific details to Sheriff's Dispatch operators.
