Pair charged with breaking into landlord's apartment and stealing thousands in property
Detective Andy Manis of the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office charged 41-year-old Brenda Joyce Hicks and 35-year-old Crystal Leigh Wilson, both of Seagle Street in Marion, with felony breaking and entering and felony larceny after breaking and entering.
Detective Lynn Greene of the Sheriff’s Office also charged Hicks with one more felony count each of breaking and entering and larceny after breaking and entering.
Investigators said the two lived in a house that had an apartment upstairs and an apartment downstairs. The suspects were renting one of the apartments from the home’s owner, Robert Schultz, of Sugar Hill Road in Marion.
It was reported on Dec. 1, 2014 that both women broke into the other apartment and stole $1,390 worth of property – a pistol, stereo equipment, a cordless drill, a shop vacuum and a chainsaw – that belonged to Schultz. A portion of the property has been recovered.
It was then reported on Dec. 8 that Hicks broke into the apartment alone and took a TV, an overhead projector and a satellite receiver with a total value of $724. All of this property was recovered.
