I-5 Corridor Improvement Updates

FLORENCE AVENUE INTERCHANGE PROJECT
To accommodate the freeway widening, crews must close Orr and Day Road at Florence Avenue, for approximately one year. A temporary traffic signal is being installed at Roseton Avenue and Florence Avenue to maintain access for residents. This work involves opening the frontage road at Roseton to allow through traffic onto Florence Avenue.

During the week of March 22, crews will perform work on the outside lanes of traffic at Roseton Avenue and Florence, weekdays between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. Motorists may encounter delays while this work is completed. The traffic signal at Roseton Avenue and Florence will be open before the closure of Orr and Day Road at Florence Avenue begins. Additional information regarding this work will be provided as it becomes available.

IMPERIAL HIGHWAY & PIONEER BOULEVARD PROJECT
Construction activity is currently under way on several sound walls along the northbound and southbound I-5. In addition, crews are working on the frontage roads along the northbound I-5 (Adoree Street) and southbound I-5 (Southbound Frontage Road). In the next few months, the contractor is working to open Adoree Street to allow through traffic between Norwalk Boulevard and Imperial Highway.

ROSECRANS AVENUE & BLOOMFIELD AVENUE BRIDGE PROJECT
On Thursday, March 26, crews will begin paving activity along the southbound I-5 (from Silverbow Avenue pedestrian bridge to Carmenita Road). This operation will be ongoing approximately five to six weeks, intermittently, and will include daytime and nighttime activity. This work may require nighttime lane closures along the southbound I-5 freeway, as well as intermittent closures of the southbound I-5 off-ramp at Carmenita Road. Please be advised, night work may be disruptive due to construction lighting, equipment noise and general construction activity.

CARMENITA ROAD INTERCHANGE PROJECT
In the coming months, project crews will be preparing to shift traffic from the existing Carmenita Road bridge, to the new bridge which is being built alongside the original structure. An exact date has not been set, but the current estimate is sometime in June. This traffic shift will include changes to the traffic pattern at Firestone and Carmenita. More detailed information will be provided before this work takes place.

ALONDRA BOULEVARD BRIDGE PROJECT
In April the contractor will perform a traffic shift along the southbound lanes of the I-5 freeway. In order to accommodate the freeway widening, southbound traffic was shifted to the inside of the freeway, allowing crews to perform paving activity behind k-rail along the far outside lanes. In a few weeks, the contractor will be ready to shift the southbound traffic to the new pavement on the outside of the freeway. This work will require nighttime closures on the freeway, as the contractor restripes the pavement and moves k-rail. Following the southbound traffic shift, the contractor will perform a similar shift along the northbound lanes of the I-5. Additional information, including dates and times of closures, will be provided once the schedule for this work is set.

DISCLAIMER: Due to the dynamic nature of construction, please note that all dates and times are subject to change due to unforeseen operational factors or inclement weather.
