Updated Media Advisory: The intruder has been identified as 34-year old Demond Anderson of Indianapolis.

INDIANAPOLIS - On March 21, 2015 at approximately 12:15 p.m., officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) were dispatched to the 2900 block of East Riverside Drive on a report of a person shot.
The caller indicated that his rear window had been broken out of his residence and he encountered a subject and shot him. Officers arrived at the location and found an unidentified, adult male unresponsive and unconscious. He was pronounced deceased by EMS personnel at the scene.
Investigators learned that homeowner interrupted a burglary in progress to his residence. Fearing the suspect located firearms inside the home, the homeowner notified police immediately. The homeowner and intruder engaged one another prior to arrival of police. It was later learned that deceased was the brother of the homeowner. The deceased has prior felony convictions and was arrested for possession of a handgun and possession of stolen property.
At this time, Homicide investigators, along with the Marion County Prosecutors Office, are reviewing details surrounding this incident and will present findings after the investigation has concluded. The Marion County Coroner's Office will conduct an autopsy and determine a cause and manner of death.
