On Sunday March 22nd at 3:41pm, APD officers were sent to the area of NW12th & Hayden reference a possible gunshot victim. The caller had indicated that the suspect vehicle was possible a white Ford Crown Victoria. As officers were responding to the area, one officer observed a white Mercury Grand Marquis (similar body style to a Crown Victoria) stopped near NW10th and Jefferson. The officer initiated a traffic stop due to the similar vehicle description. The driver of the Mercury refused to stop and attempted to elude officers. The chase continued for a brief time until the vehicle stopped in the 1600 block of N Washington. The driver was removed and secured in a police car. Officers continued their investigation at this location while other officers located the victim and secured the crime scene. The victim was transported to a local hospital and treated for his non life-threatening injuries. Officers were not able to recover a weapon but did find other evidence of the shooting. The suspect Jalen Blaine Watson B/M 20 was arrested and booked into Potter County Correction Center on charges of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Evading Arrest/Detention in a Motor Vehicle and 3 outstanding local municipal warrants. The incident remains under investigation.
