Weapons and Ammunition Seized in Los Alamos Residence Where Barricaded Subject was Arrested

Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s deputies and detectives searched the Los Alamos residence where Ronald Carrari was barricaded yesterday, March 20, and seized eight firearms, thousands of rounds of various caliber ammunition, seven swords and two fighting knives.  The firearms included three handguns, two shotguns and three rifles.  In addition to being booked on charges of making criminal threats and resisting arrest, Carrari is also charged with being in possession of an illegal shotgun and being in possession of illegal rifle magazines.  Additional charges may follow.

The incident in Los Alamos began late yesterday morning when Sheriff’s deputies learned that Carrari had made criminal threats against a family member in downtown Los Alamos.  They had been in contact with Carrari the past several days and were concerned about his ability to harm himself or others.  They also had information that he may possess firearms.  Sheriff’s deputies went to his residence to make contact with him and that is when he fled inside the residence and refused to come out.

Highway 101 was closed down in the area as a safety precaution for the surrounding community and motorists.
