Just after 9:00 PM on Thursday, March 19, Rutherford County Communications received a call reporting that Mr. Willie Justin Harris, age 24, had been in a physical and verbal altercation with his girlfriend, age 32, at his residence in Bostic.
Upon arrival at the residence, Rutherford County deputies were unable to locate the suspect or victim.
A second call to 9-1-1 came in just after 1:00 AM on Friday, March 20.
Deputies were dispatched back out to the Harris residence where Mr. Willie Justin Harris was located and arrested for driving while license revoked.
After requesting assistance, Harris’ girlfriend was located by Cleveland County deputies and transported by ambulance to Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
She was treated for injuries sustained from the altercation with Mr. Harris, discharged and released into the custody of Cleveland County deputies for unrelated felony charges.
Harris is currently in custody at the Rutherford County Detention Center under a $2,000 secured bond for driving while license revoked.
After a search warrant was executed, investigators with the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office charged Harris with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.
Due to the domestic nature of this charge, a bond will be set at a later date by a magistrate after a mandatory 48 hour hold.
The investigation is on-going.
