On March 20, 2015 at approximately 2:20 AM, officers were dispatched to a car versus tractor trailer accident in the 3200 block of the northbound lanes of Canyon Drive. The car was a white Chevrolet Impala driven by Serena Basaldua, HF, 19 of Tulia. The Freightliner tractor trailer was driven by Virgil Yarbrough, WM, 29, of Arkansas and had team passenger, Kollin Tuper, WM, 26, of New York. The tractor trailer was driving northbound in the center lane of the 3200 block of S Canyon Drive. The car was driving southbound, the wrong way, on S Canyon Drive, and the vehicles hit head on. The female driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Next of kin have been notified. Neither the driver nor the passenger in the tractor trailer was injured and both were released. DPS conducted a Commercial Motor Vehicle Inspection on the tractor trailer. Judge Houdashell was notified. Alcohol is a possible factor in the collision. The Traffic Investigation Squad is investigating the collision.
