Oakland, CA — On Tuesday, March 17, the Oakland Police Department arrested Miguel Baraja, 48, in connection with a sexual assault of a child that occurred on January 27, 2015. Today, Thursday, March 19, 2015, the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office has charged Baraja for that crime.
Key to the resolution of this case was the victim’s bravery in coming forward, and the diligence of Oakland Police service technicians, patrol officers, and investigators.

Background: On January 27, 2015, at 3:00 PM, the victim, a 10-year-old boy, was walking in the 1100 block of 98th Avenue when he was approached by a stranger who lured him to a nearby area and sexually assaulted him.
