Truck Driver Arrested for Marijuana

Cambridge City – A truck driver was arrested this morning for Possession of Marijuana after the truck he was driving was stopped by an Indiana State Police Motor Carrier Inspector for an inspection. Motor Carrier Inspector Tony Alexander stopped the truck on I-70, at the 137 mile marker west bound Cambridge City exit, just before 11 a.m. to inspect the bobtail semi.  (A semi truck without a trailer.)

After making contact with the driver Christopher Gadson, age 42 of St Petersburg, FL., Alexander detected the odor of Marijuana.  Pendleton Trooper Paul Harrison was nearby and responded to assist. A Henry County Sheriff’s Department K-9 was summoned, and after walking around the vehicle, indicated the presence of drugs.

Further investigation revealed the driver was in Possession of Marijuana under 30 grams. Gadson was lodged in the Wayne County Jail by Trooper Harrison on the class “B” Misdemeanor charge. In addition, MCI Alexander charged Gadson under Federal Statute for a Driver Under the Influence or in Possession of a Narcotic Drug, an infraction, and placed him out of service for 24 hours. The truck was taken from the scene by a wrecker service.

Anyone with information about illegal drug use is encouraged to call the Pendleton Post at 1-800-527-4752, or the Indiana State Police Drug Tip Line at 1-800-453-4756. Tips can be made and kept anonymous.
