Langland Promoted to First Sergeant to Serve as Crime Scene Investigator Supervisor

 

Indianapolis, IN-Monday, March 16th, Indiana State Police Superintendent Douglas Carter promoted Sergeant Leonard Langland to the rank of First Sergeant to serve as the Crime Scene Investigator Field Support Supervisor-East Central Region. Langland was selected after competing in a stringent written and oral interview process.

 

Langland is a native of Washburn County, Wisconsin and a 1987 graduate of Spooner High School.  He attended Columbia College and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice in 1995. 

 

F/Sgt. Langland is an Army veteran having joined as an Explosive Ordnance Specialist in 1987. He received the Bronze Star for his service in the Gulf War and attained the rank of sergeant prior to his honorable discharge in 1994. 

 

Langland began his law enforcement career in 1996 upon graduation from the 54th Indiana State Police Academy.  He was assigned to the Peru State Police Post and patrolled Miami County.  In 1999, Langland transferred to the Pendleton State Police Post and patrolled Hamilton County.   In 2007 Langland was promoted to Sergeant and attended the Indiana State Police Crime Scene Investigator (CSI) Training.  Langland was assigned to the Pendleton State Police Post as the CSI.

 

In 2001, after serving two years as an Indiana State Police Explosive Ordnance Reconnaissance Officer,     Langland was selected to attend the Redstone Arsenal Hazardous Devices School in Huntsville, Alabama. Upon graduation of the six week course he was assigned to the EOD central team and currently serves as an ISP Bomb Technician.

 

Langland primary duty as First Sergeant in the Field Support Supervisor role will be supervising the four evidence clerks and six Crime Scene Investigators in the East Central Region of the State of Indiana.

 

First Sergeant Langland resides with his wife and three children in Hamilton County.
