A message from Sheriff Tom Jones about the Patrol K9 Program

Thank you so much for the showing of support since we launched our Patrol K9 Program here in Grant County. The generosity of contributors has been amazing.

Just a quick point of clarification. After reading our marketing materials, I was concerned people thought we are wanting explosives K9s and more drug K9s. Although our marketing materials listed explosives K9s, drug K9s and Patrol K9s as examples, the focus of our fundraising is to get Patrol K9s.

Patrol K9s' primary skills are searching for people (mostly bad guys, although we can use them to find people lost or at risk) and protecting people (their handler and citizens who are being threatened). For the Grant County Sheriff's Office, Patrol K9s, I believe, will provide the most benefit for the cost and will be the skill set used the most frequently.

I am sorry if there was any confusion and can certainly understand how that may have arisen. If you have any continued concerns, please feel free to call the Sheriff's Office at 509-754-2011 ext. 2001.

Meanwhile, speaking on behalf of the entire GCSO, thank you again for such a wonderful show of support in this campaign!
