I-65 Bus Crash Investigation Continues
Clark County – The investigation into the charter bus crash on I-65 continued Tuesday as investigators and crash reconstruction units attempted to gather information from the charter bus Event Data Recorder and onboard video. An Event Data Recorder or EDR is a small recording devices installed on most newer vehicles for recording information related to vehicle crashes. The device is similar in concept to the “black box” found on modern aircraft. Investigators are hopeful they will recover information from the onboard devices which could shed light on the vehicle’s actions leading up to the time of the crash. The crash occurred last Thursday as the bus carrying the 16 member Indiana Tech bowling team was traveling southbound on I-65 near Henryville, Indiana.
Investigators said the process of obtaining and analyzing any information obtained could take up to two weeks.
