The Community Academy is a seven week course from 7:00pm to 9:00pm once a week (Thursdays) taught by Compton Sheriff’s Station’s deputy personnel. 

The course will be held at, "Our Lady of Victory" parish located at 519 E Palmer St, Compton (310)631-3233.

The course will begin on March 19, and will finish on May 14, with a graduation.

This program helps strengthen the line of communication between the community and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.  The course is presented in Spanish.  The participants are residents from the community and exposed to a wide range of topics such as role playing scenarios, an overview of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, probable cause / search and seizure / Miranda rights, traffic laws, AB-60, CPR, Parenting, drugs  and gangs.   

The participants also tour the Century Regional Detention Facility (CRDF) in Lynwood, CA. 

Upon completion of the program, every participant receives a “Certificate of Completion”.
