Indiana State Police and Tippecanoe County Sheriff’s Department Capture Two after Pursuit in Tippecanoe County-Arrested Identified

Tippecanoe County-At approximately 1:28p.m., this Tuesday, March 17, 2015, Indiana State Police Trooper Darrick Scott initiated a pursuit, on US 52 and CR 800 South in Tippecanoe County, on a black 1997 Chevrolet pickup that had been implicated in a rash of daytime robberies in Clinton County.

The pursuit went throughout southeast Tippecanoe County and Scott eventually lost sight of the pickup at 800 South and 200 East in a construction zone.

Shortly thereafter, Tippecanoe County Sheriff’s Department deputies located the vehicle near Wainwright Middle School at US 52 and 700 South, Lafayette. Deputies and Trooper Stephen Grayson made a felony stop on the vehicle and their occupants. The plate on the vehicle had been reported stolen by Lafayette Police Department. A male driver and female passenger were taken into custody without incident.

A handgun that was thrown out during the initial pursuit was recovered.

Wainwright Middle School administration was immediately notified about the incident. School was released at their normal dismissal time.

Names and charges are pending.

***Driver was identified as David K. Stacey, 48 of Lafayette***

Stacey was taken to Tippecanoe County Jail and charged with:
 Resisting Law Enforcement with a motor vehicle
 Driving while being a Habitual Traffic Violator (HTV) for life
 Wanted on a warrant from Lafayette Police for Failure to Appear for HTV, Possession of Marijuana, and Paraphernalia

His female passenger was not charged.

Further charges may be pending per review by the Tippecanoe County Prosecutor.
