A successful Impaired Driver Task Force in the San Fernando Valley results in 36 #DUI arrests @CHPWestValley

Successful Impaired Driver Task Force (IDTF) for San Fernando Valley

WOODLAND HILLS, CA- The California Highway Patrol, West Valley Area, conducted an “Impaired Driver Task Force” (IDTF) looking for drivers under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. The task force deployed three times the average number of officers on the night of Saturday, March 14, 2015, in an attempt to keep the motoring public safe in the San Fernando Valley during a weekend of St. Patrick’s Day celebrations.

The task force was extremely successful in removing impaired drivers from the road. The IDTF detail resulted in 36 DUI arrests through the early hours of Sunday morning compared to 11 DUI arrests made during the same time period the year prior.

The California Highway Patrol encourages everyone to celebrate and enjoy the St. Patrick’s Day festivities by doing so responsibly. Anyone under the influence risk not only colliding and killing a person, but being arrested as well.

A DUI crash or arrest can be averted in a number of ways:

-Not drinking if you are the driver.
-Riding with someone who has not been drinking.
-Using public transportation, calling a taxi or a friend.
-Selecting a designated driver

“Anytime we take an impaired driver off the road, we are potentially saving lives” said Captain Johnny Starling, Commander of the West Valley Area Office. “You can rest assured, that if you drive under the influence of any substance, the CHP will stop you, arrest you and prosecute you to the fullest extent of the law.”
