Man becomes stranded on Farrington Lake today-

Man becomes stranded on thin ice today on Farrington Lake-
Today, at 13:57 hours, the North Brunswick Police were called to Farrington Lake for a kayaker in distress. Apparently, two men were out kayaking on the lake, when one man struck the ice and overturned. The man was able to get himself to a nearby ice patch and lay across it, while his partner called for help. His kayak continued to float away from as he watched. Soaked, cold, and stranded on the thin and cracking ice, he waited for help. In addition to our Department, the North Brunswick Fire Department and EMS were dispatched to the scene with rescue equipment. As it turns out, East Brunswick Also had resources dispatched and on the way. North Brunswick Officers were able to stay in constant contact with the victim, while other Officers looked for resources in the meantime. Officers located an area resident that had two kayaks, and offered them for use. The resident and Officers dragged the kayaks to the shoreline and called the victims partner to them. The partner then towed the newly found kayak out to the victim, who was able to get it to it, and then paddle to shore. The victim was treated by North Brunswick EMS and refused any further medical care. Thank you to the resident, as well as everyone that assisted in this incident that could have ended much worse.
