Warrant Service Leads to Meth Lab and Two Arrests (Updated with Mug Photos)

Rochester – Recently, a warrant service by officers from the Indiana State Police Peru Post Methamphetamine Suppression Team and the Fulton County Sheriff’s Department led to the arrests of two Rochester men and the discovery of a methamphetamine lab.

Friday night, officers served a parole violation arrest warrant on Jonathon Carpenter, 31, Rochester, IN, at a home on 4264 McCarty Lane, Rochester. When a man, later identified as Justin Chapman, 27, Rochester, IN, opened the front door to the residence; officers immediately smelled the distinct odor of chemicals associated with the manufacturing of methamphetamine. A protective sweep of the home allegedly revealed numerous items associated with the use and manufacturing of illegal narcotics. Officers also found Carpenter in the living room.

During further investigation, officers applied for and received a Fulton Circuit Court search warrant for the McCarty Lane property. During a subsequent search, officers allegedly found methamphetamine, a methamphetamine lab, a rifle, a shotgun, chemical drug precursors, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia. Carpenter and Chapman were incarcerated in the Fulton County Jail on multiple drug related charges.

Charges:
- Carpenter: warrant for parole violation, possession of an illegal drug lab, dealing methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana with a previous conviction, reckless possession of drug paraphernalia.

- Chapman: possession of methamphetamine, possession of an illegal drug lab, dealing methamphetamine, maintaining a common nuisance, possession of marijuana, and reckless possession of drug paraphernalia.

The Indiana State Police encourages anyone with information about the possession, distribution, or manufacturing of methamphetamine to call the Indiana State Police Methamphetamine Tip Line at 1-800-453-4756. Information can be reported anonymously.
