Homicide Investigation

On 3/13/2015 at 0329 am, the Pomona Police Department received multiple 911 calls reporting gun shots being heard in the area of Third St. and Main St. Officers responded to the area where they located a 23 year old male Ontario resident who was suffering from gunshot wounds to the lower torso. He was transported by ambulance to USC Medical Center where he later died. Pomona Police Department Homicide Investigator's responded to the scene where they launched a murder investigation. The preliminary investigation indicates the victim and suspect were engaged in a physical altercation prior to the shooting. The suspect is described as a Hispanic male adult. It is unknown if the suspect and the victim knew each other prior to the altercation. An unknown colored compact vehicle was seen leaving the area after the incident. It's unknown at this time if that vehicle was related to the shooting. Detectives are actively working all leads and do not believe the incident to be gang related.
