Single Vehicle Crash Sends Three to Hospital
Richmond – Around 12:45 p.m. this afternoon troopers responded to the report of a single vehicle crash on I-70 east bound in the area of the 155 mile marker, or just west of the US 40 exit. Troopers Eric Fields and Paul Harrison arrived to find a 2004 Dodge Durango approximately 600 feet off the south side of the interstate rolled over onto the driver’s side.
The van driver, Adam Schutte, age 29 of Cart Rd., Richmond, was transported to Reid Hospital in Richmond with non life threatening head injuries. His front seat passenger, Latisha Bell, age 27 also of Cart Rd. in Richmond, was transported to Reid Hospital with non-life threatening neck and back injuries. The back seat passenger, Diana Schutte, age 66 from Richmond, was transported to Reid with chest and back pain.
Preliminary investigation is that the driver, Adam Schutte, fell asleep while driving. The east bound Durango then left the south side of the interstate traveling some 600’ before crashing through a billboard and coming to rest on the driver’s side.
Trooper Fields investigated the crash and was assisted at the scene by Trooper Paul Harrison, the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department, Richmond Fire Department and Spirit EMS.
