Traffic Stop Leads to Three Felony Arrests

Connersville – Three men were arrested on felony drug charges last night after the car they were in was stopped for speeding.  Shortly after 6:30 p.m. last evening Trooper Bryan Rumple clocked the green Buick south bound on Waterloo Rd., just south of CR 440 N., in excess of the 40 M.P.H. speed limit.

Rumple caught up with the vehicle as it entered Connersville and got it stopped around Park Rd. and 24th St. After speaking with the driver, Craig Waddell, age 34 of Brookville, it was found that he was driving while license suspended.  Connersville K-9 Officer Perry was nearby and came to assist.  His partner was walked around the outside of the car and alerted to the presence of drugs.

Further investigation revealed that the passengers, Danny Steele, age 36 of Connersville, and Craig Harmon, age 38 of Connersville, were in possession of approximately 4.5 grams of Heroin.  The two men were charged with Dealing a Narcotic Drug, Level 5 Felony, and Possession of a Narcotic Drug, Level 6 Felony.

The driver of the vehicle, Craig Waddell, was charged with Dealing a Narcotic Drug, Level 5 Felony as well as Possession of a Narcotic Drug and Maintaining a Common Nuisance, both Level 6 Felonies.  Waddell was also charged with Misdemeanor Driving While Suspended with a prior conviction, and Misdemeanor Possession of Paraphernalia. The three men were lodged in the Fayette County Jail.
