#LASD Arrests 12 Following Prostitution Sting Operation, In City of Compton
In an on-going effort to combat human trafficking, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD) successfully conducted a “John Sting” operation on Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at Long Beach Boulevard and Elm Street, Compton.
LASD personnel, consisting of a 29 member team that included LASD’s Major Crimes Bureau’s Vice Unit, Compton Station’s Special Problems Team, LASD Court Services, Custody Division, Reserve Forces Unit, and the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office, collaborated to investigate complaints of prostitution in the city of Compton. Undercover female deputies posed as prostitutes and 12 men were arrested for the misdemeanor charge of Solicitation of Prostitution. One of the 12 men had an outstanding warrant for Solicitation, one woman was arrested for an outstanding prostitution warrant, and five cars were towed due to invalid or suspended licenses.
