Unfounded Internet School Threat - San Marcos

Look for extra security at Mission Hills High School today (March 11)after an unfounded threat was made on an internet social media website.

The threat was discovered by a student around 10:00 p.m. on last night (March 10) on a website called burnbook.com. The posting made unspecified threats against Mission Hills High and indicated the person posting was building a firearm.

The student alerted a parent who reported the posting to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.

The Sheriff's Department is working closely with the school administration and actively investigating the individual(s) responsible for this post. The school has also conducted a parental notification of this. Burnbook.com does not timestamp or list the IP address of those who post comments. However, the Sheriff's Department is working with the website and forensic IT units in an effort to identify the IP address.
