Moorpark Fraud Hotline (805) 299-1566
In May of 2014, the Moorpark Police Department implemented a fraud hotline to assist and educate the public on current fraud trends. The hotline is in both English and Spanish and has updated information on current scams involving fraudulent phone calls, internet, text messages etc .
The hotline has received about 100 calls since it’s activation. The calls have been from Moorpark and other cities in the county and has assisted patrol in keeping calls for service down, answering the question “is this a scam” and keeping the public from falling for scams.
The hotline calls are returned if the caller leaves their phone number and follow-up is completed on these scams including the shutting down of the phone numbers making these fraud calls. Dozens of Voice over IP (VoIP) numbers have been shut down with the cooperation of several providers.
It Is our hope that with our continued publicity of this number we will keep residents of Moorpark and surrounding cities more aware of these fraudsters and with that, keep them from losing their hard earned money.
