Detective charges James Johnson Jr., of Nebo, with stealing skid steer; $10,000 piece of equipment recovered
Detective Billie Brown of the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office charged James Andrew Johnson Jr., 50, of Mile Drive in Nebo, with one felony count each of larceny and obtaining property by false pretense.
Eleanor Burleson, of Nathalie, Va., reported on Feb. 20 that someone stole a $10,000 Bobcat skid steer from her property on Cherokee Way in Marion.
Brown said an investigation led to Johnson, who is acquainted with the Burleson family. Brown added that Johnson sold the skid steer to a man for $6,500.
The Bobcat was recovered.
