“They Exist to Assist”

Gary, Lake County-Early this Friday, March 6, 2015, morning, Indiana Department of Transportation Hoosier Helpers Steve Ferris and Craig Dobis came to the rescue of two wayward dogs that made their way onto interstate I-80/94. They were able to capture the dogs before they could run into traffic, cause a crash, or meet an untimely demise.

At approximately 8:30 a.m., this morning, Ferris and Dobis came into contact with a friendly pit bull and a “not so friendly” Yorkshire terrier that had made their way onto I-80 west bound at Chase Street.

They were able to contain the pit bull easily with a makeshift leash and finally were able to corral the uncooperative yorkie nearby as it declined to abandon his captured pit bull “buddy”.

Both animals were held until Gary Animal Control came to scene and took them safely away.

“They Exist to Assist” Hoosier Helpers apparently not only goes for the motoring public but animals as well!!

Anyone interested in the dogs can contact Gary Animal Control at 219-885-7507.
