On February 25th, 2015, at 6:19 P.M., Morgan Hill Police Officers responded to the area of Ciolino Avenue and Monterey Road to investigate the report of a person shot. As officers arrived at the location they were told a male victim with a gunshot wound was taken to a local hospital by a family member. Officers located the victim at the hospital and were advised the victim’s injuries were non-life threatening. The victim told the officers he got into a verbal confrontation with two male subjects, when one of the males pulled out a gun and shot him. The suspects fled the scene on foot and were not immediately apprehended.

During the course of the investigation, Morgan Hill Police Detectives developed several pertinent leads regarding the identity of the suspects and subsequently identified the primary suspect as, Emanuel Mendoza (18 y/o) from Morgan Hill. Detectives attempted to contact Mendoza at his residence where they discovered that he fled the area. Detectives questioned the second subject involved in this incident, however, he will not be facing criminal charges at this time.

On Saturday, February 28th, 2015, at approximately 11:01 P.M., Mendoza turned himself in at the Morgan Hill Police Department without incident. Mendoza was arrested for attempted homicide and transported to the Santa Clara County Main Jail where he was booked into their custody.
