NWS Special Weather Statement

The National Weather Service has issued a Special Weather Statement for Paulding County as well as much of North and Central Georgia for the potential of black ice to form on area roads and bridges tonight. 

A very cold air mass continues to spread in over the state this evening and overnight.  Temperatures will fall at or below freezing for most areas.  This couples with wet grounds from widespread rains will result in patches of black ice resulting in slick spots on area roads and bridges. 

The main black ice threat tonight will be generally along and North of a Columbus to Macon to Warrenton line.

The Special Weather Statement remains in effect through Friday morning.

People traveling across North and much of Central Georgia tonight and Friday morning should use extra caution and be prepared for slick spots on roadways.

Monitor local media outlets and/or NOAA Weather for later statements.
