Gardena Explorer Headed to Washington D.C.

In June 2015, Explorer Arturo Lima will be participating in a week long National Law Enforcement Exploring Leadership Academy being hosted in Washington D.C. Explorer Lima is fifteen years old, and was chosen from among thousands of nationwide applicants to attend this course. Additionally, the Leadership Academy was so impressed with Explorer Lima’s determination and commitment to the Gardena Police Explorer Post that the Committee will be paying for his entire trip which includes his flight, boarding, food, and registration fees.

The Leadership Training will be held at the D.E. A. Academy and will consist of classes including leadership, decision making, problem solving, communication skills, leading and motivating others, setting goals, accountability, ethics, team work and mentoring. In addition to the training classes, the Explorer attendees will also be taken to the U.S. Holocaust Memorial, the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial, and other major monuments and government buildings throughout D.C.

Congratulations to Explorer Arturo Lima on this amazing opportunity. We know you will represent Gardena and the Explorer Program well!
