Female booked on six charges of auto burglary after call in S. Amarillo early this morning...

On 3-3-15, at about 2:30 AM, officers were sent to a home in the 3400 block of Lometa on a report that a resident of that block heard his car alarm go off, went to check on it, and saw someone running away, toward 34th.  Responding officers heard dogs barking in the east alley behind the call address as they arrived, and checked the alley before contacting the caller.  They found a female sitting beside a tree, carrying two backpacks and wearing a headband mounted flashlight.  The officers found property including an I-phone, phone cases and chargers, books, bottles of perfume, a Bluetooth device, sunglasses and cases, lottery tickets, a purse, CDs, and other items in the backpacks.  Further investigation allowed officers to link the items to six auto burglaries in the immediate area.  Items were taken from unlocked cars in the 3300 and 3400 block of Lometa, 3100 block of Janet, and 3300 block of Fleetwood.  The suspect, Annelies Nicole Hall WF 22 was booked into the Randall County Jail on six charges of burglary of an automobile.  Officers were able to return property to the owners.

Last week, the APD investigated 46 reported auto burglaries all over Amarillo.  In last night’s case, the vehicles were unlocked, but in many cases, suspects break windows or door locks to gain entry.  Remember that criminals may consider anything left in a vehicle, no matter the value, worth stealing.  Last week, the list of items stolen from cars included backpacks, purses, a handgun, and even a bowling ball.  The best way to keep your personal belongings safe is to remove them from your vehicle, especially when you leave the car parked overnight.
