Report of suspicious activity by alert citizen leads to arrest

On March 2, 2015 at approximately 9:08 am, the Los Altos Police Department received a call from a citizen reporting a suspicious vehicle in the area of Lockhaven Drive and Stonehaven Drive in Los Altos. The citizen reported that his mail had possibly been stolen and provided a detailed description of a suspicious vehicle he had observed.

Police Officers responded to the area and located a vehicle matching the description provided by the citizen. An enforcement stop ensued on Foothill Expressway and Grand Road. The driver was identified as 40-year-old Troy Fletcher from Oakland, CA and the passenger was identified as 46-year-old Alphonzo Odom, also from Oakland.

The investigation revealed that Fletcher was driving with a suspended license and was in possession of less than one ounce of marijuana while operating a motor vehicle. Odom initially provided false identification to the Officers and was found to have two outstanding felony warrants for his arrest. The warrants were for burglary and identity theft. Fletcher was released with a citation and Odom was booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail.

At this time, it is unknown whether the suspects are tied to any other recent burglaries in the area.

“The alert citizen who took immediate action by calling the Police Department did a great job,” said Police Chief Tuck Younis. “That is exactly what we want people to do, trust their instincts and call us if something seems suspicious.”
