On March 1, 2015 at approximately 6:32 p.m., Los Banos Police Officers responded to a reported vehicle vs. pedestrian traffic collision near the 300 block of Pacheco Boulevard. The
first officer to arrive at the scene found an adult female lying in the center turn lane of Pacheco Boulevard with significant injuries.
Esteban Iniquez, 31, of Los Banos was travelling westbound on Pacheco Boulevard in a 2002 Cadillac Escalade. Iniquez was travelling in the center left turn lane when the vehicle he was
driving struck the woman who was not in a crosswalk.
The woman was airlifted to a Modesto area hospital where she remains in critical condition.
Iniquez is cooperating with investigators and alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the collision.
“There have been two separate incidents involving vehicles and pedestrians on Pacheco Boulevard in the last few weeks and in both cases, pedestrians crossed improperly. These unfortunate incidents place an emphasis on the importance of using crosswalks.”
