APD officers arrest two on weapons charges after early morning traffic stop.

On Monday March 2nd at 12:54am, APD officers stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation at SE 3rd and Grand. As officers activated their emergency equipment the driver slowed but never came to a stop. The vehicle was driving along the edge of the street when the passenger side window shattered and a black object was seen being thrown from the car. The car continued several more feet until it became stuck in the mud. Officers removed the occupants and began to identify them. As officers were removing the driver, he was patted down for weapons and officers located a set of brass knuckles attached to his belt. The brass knuckles were removed from the suspect and he was handcuffed and placed in the backseat of a patrol car. The passenger was later removed from the car and secured in a different patrol car. Officers checked the area where the object was seen being thrown from the vehicle and discovered a black semi automatic handgun lying in the ditch. The driver is identified as Dewayne Camp W/M 44. Camp was arrested for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by Felon, Possession of Prohibited Weapon (brass knuckles) and 3 outstanding municipal warrants. The passenger is identified as Tanner William Houghton W/M 34. Houghton was charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by Felon. Both subjects were booked into the Potter County Correction Center.
