Stolen Vehicle Recovered, Four Arrested

At about 12:47 p.m. the Department received notification of a signal being emitted from a stolen vehicle equipped with an aftermarket tracking system. Using specially equipped police vehicles, the vehicle, a 2015 Ford Focus originally stolen in Glendale, was subsequently located parked and unoccupied in front of a retail business at 2845 Cochran Street.

As the Officers were storing the vehicle by having it towed from the scene they were approached by a group of three juvenile females and an adult male. One of the females asked the Officers if she could retrieve her purse from the car. When questioned one of the females admitted to knowing the vehicle was stolen.

All four subjects were detained and later arrested without incident for 10851 VC, Unlawful Possession of a Stolen Vehicle. The adult male, Diego Calderon Mendez, 18 years, was also arrested for contributing to the delinquency of a minor. The juveniles were issued citations and released to their parents. Mendez, a Compton resident, was booked into the East County Jail.

If you have additional information regarding this incident, please contact the Police Department.
