Intoxicated Driver Arrested after Minor Crash
Putnam County—At 5:40 this morning, Putnam County Central Dispatch reported a one vehicle crash on State Road 42 at County Road 850 E. Indiana State Police and Putnam County Sheriff’s deputies responded.
Preliminary investigation revealed a gray Chevrolet Cruze was eastbound on SR 42 and traveled off the north side of the roadway into a snow bank. Trooper Jonathan Cumbie noticed the driver smelled of alcohol and displayed classic signs of impairment. Inside the vehicle was an open bottle of alcohol. The driver was transported to the Putnam County Jail where she failed a breath test for intoxication by testing .19% BAC. She was subsequently incarcerated.
Arrested: Crystal A. Thomas, age 26, of Camby, Indiana.
Charge: Operating Vehicle While Intoxicated (misdemeanor) also cited for open container violation
Assisting Trooper Cumbie were Putnam County Sheriff’s deputies Turner and Simmons.
