Lafayette District-Today troopers from the Lafayette Post worked a total of 22 slide offs, property damage crashes and personal injury crashed on I-65 and I-74.
I-65 had a total of two side offs, 10 property damage crashes and two personal injury crashes. One of the personal injury crashes at the 191 MM SB included five semis and one car. Traffic had slowed for a prior crash when a semi pulling double trailers failed to slow and ran into four other semis and a car. Two semi drivers were taken to IU Health Arnett Hospital in Lafayette with non life threatening injuries. The interstate was closed for about three hours while cleanup was completed.
I-74 had four slide offs, three property damage crashes and one personal injury crash. I-74 EB at the 12 MM was closed down for about 45 minutes while a semi that had jacknifed blocking both lanes of traffic.
the Indiana State Police want to remind drivers to slow down and be cautious of traffic conditions when it is snowing and the roadway appears to be icing over. Leave plenty of room between you and the vehicle in front of you. Avoid following to close and speed too fast for the conditions of the highway.
