INCIDENT: Marijuana Cultivation / Illegal Marijuana Dispensary

LOCATION: 16424 Victor Street, Victorville

SUSPECT: Aja M. Shaw, age 35, Apple Valley, Ca.

SUMMARY:
On Wednesday, February 25, 2015, the Sheriff’s Narcotics Division-Marijuana Enforcement Team and deputies from the Victorville Police Department served a search warrant at 16424 Victor Street in Victorville. Investigators found a sophisticated hydroponic marijuana cultivation operation inside the commercial building on the property.

Additional construction and modifications were done inside the building to facilitate the marijuana cultivation. Investigators seized marijuana plants in various stages of growth, processed marijuana and an advanced hydroponic growing set up to include lighting, fans, air conditioning units and filtration systems. Aja Shaw was identified as a suspect by investigators during the investigation. He was arrested without incident, transported and booked into the High Desert Detention Center for Cultivation of Marijuana and Sales of Marijuana. He is being held on $50,000. bail.

Victorville City Code Enforcement personnel responded and determined the location to be unsafe for occupancy due to the conditions discovered inside. The substantial construction of rooms, electrical wiring, plumbing and ventilation were added without permits or inspection. The city of Victorville has an ordinance banning medical marijuana dispensaries, to include all locations that dispense, provide, distribute, cultivate and process marijuana.
