On 2-25-2015, shortly after 2:00 PM, witnesses contacted the Amarillo Police Department with information that they had seen child pornography displayed on a computer and on a cell phone at a home in the 4200 block of Rondo Avenue. One adult witness told officers that the suspect had inadvertently left child pornography displayed on a laptop computer screen. This witness looked at the image and other images on the suspect’s computer, and also looked at the suspect’s cell phone. The witness saw depictions of children involved in sexual activity. The witness brought the cell phone to the police department. APD Crimes Against Persons Squad detectives were brought into the investigation. They gathered information which allowed them to secure a search warrant for the home in the 4200 block of Rondo Avenue. CAP detectives and PACE Unit officers went to the home and made contact with Michael Clarence Kemp WM age 63 of that home. Officers searched the home and discovered thirteen images of child pornography on a laptop computer. Kemp was arrested for thirteen counts of possession of child pornography. Officers collected a lap top computer, tablet style computer, hard drive, thumb drives, film cards, camera, and a DVD from the home. Investigators will attempt to determine if there is evidence of other crimes or if any children in the images can be identified. Kemp was booked into the Randall County Jail for the thirteen possession of child pornography charges.
