Vigo County—Vigo County Coroner Dr. Susan Amos, along with the Indiana State Police, have officially released the name of the man who died during yesterday’s police action shooting near 25th and Poplar Streets in Terre Haute.
Deceased: Alexander P. Long, age 31, of Terre Haute, IN.
Family notified.
Today’s autopsy revealed Long’s cause of death was a gunshot wound to the chest and his manner of death ruled as a homicide.
Toxicology results are pending on Alexander Long and could take up to four weeks to complete.
The investigation is ongoing and no further information will be released at this time. Alexander Long was wanted on a Vigo County warrant for two counts of rape, one count of criminal confinement, and one count of domestic battery.

Once the ISP investigation is complete, the information will be submitted to the Vigo County Prosecutor’s Office for a full review.

Under the Law, criminal charges are merely accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
