Advisory

Most Roads in Etowah County Now Passable

Most roads in Etowah County are now considered passable. The following roads remain impassable:

• Secondary roads managed by the Etowah County Engineering Department in the northern and western parts of the county;
• The Town of Walnut Grove;
• Secondary roads managed by the City of Gadsden

These roads are still treacherous and deemed impassable due to snow and fallen trees. Travel is not recommended on these roads. All other roads are passable. However, icy spots still exist on several roads throughout the county, especially bridges, overpasses, and secondary roads. Motorists are urged to use caution when travelling.

Crews from the Alabama Department of Transportation, Etowah County Engineering Department, and municipal road departments have worked hard on improving the roads in Etowah County. This work, coupled with above freezing temperatures, has resulted in much improved road conditions.

Caution should be used overnight and Friday morning when travelling, as black ice will likely form where melted snow refreezes. Conditions will continue to improve Friday afternoon, with high temperatures expected near 40°.
