Peru Man Arrested for Alleged Rape of Autistic Woman
Peru – Yesterday afternoon, a criminal investigation by Indiana State Police Detective Josh Maller led to the arrest of Candler Henderson, 40, Peru, IN. Henderson was arrested when Maller served him with a Miami Circuit Court arrest warrant alleging felony charges for rape, criminal confinement, and sexual battery. Henderson was served the warrant at the Miami County Jail where he was being held on a previous arrest.
February 18, 2015, Detective Maller initiated an investigation after a 21-year-old autistic Miami County woman reported that Henderson had allegedly raped her. The attack purportedly occurred at a Miami County farm where the woman worked. The investigation revealed that on February 11, 2015, Henderson had purportedly dragged the woman into a residence on the farm. He allegedly then committed sexual acts against her.
Henderson is incarcerated in the Miami County Jail with a $40,000 surety bond for the most recent charges.
All criminal defendants are to be presumed innocent until, and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
