Advisory

Winter Storm Warning in effect. Precipitation scheduled to arrive between 12p-2p today. Take precautions now.

The National Weather Service has placed Marietta and the north metro Atlanta region under a Winter Storm Warning. Precipitation is scheduled to arrive between 12p-2p this afternoon. 2-4+ inches of heavy wet snow is forecasted to be widespread over the region with upwards to 6 inches of snow in isolated areas. The snow is expected to accumulate quickly once the precipitation starts and temps will steadily fall as the day goes on. Power outages could occur due to the weight of the snow on power lines and trees. Blocked roadways due to icy and impassable conditions as well as downed trees are possible.

The Marietta Police, Fire, Street and Power Departments already have manpower and contingency plans in place to be proactive to take precautionary and preventive measures as well as address any issues asap that arise due to the weather.

Please remember that roadways cannot be treated or cleared if they are clogged with vehicles. It is essential that the roadways remain as clear as possible from vehicular traffic once the weather arrives so that all emergency personnel can respond to all issues without delay.

We will continue to send out periodic alerts as conditions arise.
