VICTIM: Heiser, Robert Joseph – 56 year old male, Gilroy Resident
SUSPECT: ORTIZ, GABRIELA BERNICE, 19 year old City of San Jose Resident
Gilroy Police Detectives have identified and arrested Gabriela Bernice Ortiz, a 19 year old City of San Jose Resident, for the murder of Robert Heiser. Investigators continue to follow up on leads and have reason to believe that others may also be responsible for this crime.
During the morning hours of February 16, 2017, Ortiz was captured on a convenience store surveillance video with property belonging to the deceased. Ortiz was in the company of another female. Several tips were received to the Gilroy Police Department that led to the identification and arrest of Ortiz.
Based on preliminary information, it is believed that Ortiz may have participated in other similar crimes in other bay area cities.
Ortiz has been booked at the Santa Clara County Jail on Homicide Charges. She is scheduled to be arraigned on 02/24/2015.
