Aviation - Hiker suffering from chest pains rescued by the Sheriff's Department Desert Patrol Helicopter flight crew

LOCATION: Bowen Ranch, Apple Valley
VICTIM(S): Jeffery Bass, 48 Years old, of Crestline
SUMMARY: On Saturday, February 21, 2015, at approximately 7:20 pm, the Desert Patrol Helicopter, with Tactical Flight Officer Alex Kahn and Pilot Dave Borgerd, were dispatched to a call of a man in Bowen Ranch area having chest pains who was unable to be located by San Bernardino County Fire personnel. After a brief search of the area with the help of night vision goggles, the crew was able to locate the victim in a remote portion of the ranch. Due to the nature of the emergency, the helicopter crew elected to land and assess Mr. Bass’s condition. The crew loaded him into the aircraft and flew him to awaiting SBCO Fire personnel at the entrance gate of Bowen Ranch. He was then transported to the hospital by AMR.
