Ambulance Struck in Front of Residence
Putnam County—Yesterday evening around 9:35, Indiana State Police and the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office were assisting Putnam County Operation Life EMS on medical call at a residence on CR 50 North in Fillmore. While the ambulance was in front of the residence, a westbound 2005 Ford passenger car, driven by 27-year-old Benjamin Weaver of Fillmore, failed to stop or maneuver around the ambulance, and struck the front of the 2013 Chevrolet EMS unit. Weaver reported he was unable to see well because of all of the vehicle lighting. No citations were issued and no injuries were reported as Weaver was wearing a seatbelt. EMS personnel were not in the ambulance at the time of the crash, they were inside a residence. Both the ambulance and passenger car were towed from the scene.
The crash was investigated by ISP Trooper Jonathan Cumbie. Assisting was Putnam County Sheriff’s Deputy Downing.
Pictures of crash attached.
Under the Law, criminal charges are merely accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
