*Update-Crash on I-74 has EB Lanes Closed-Update*
Shelby, Co.- Indiana State Police and the Shelby County Sheriff’s Department are currently working a two vehicle crash on I-74 EB at the 108.3mm. (Brandywine overpass) The EB right lane of I-74 is now open. The left lane is closed at the crash scene and will remain closed while the spilled load is cleaned up.
Preliminary investigation has revealed that the crash involves a 2012 Freightliner tractor pulling a box trailer and a 2011 Honda passenger car with Ohio registration. The box trailers contents of Crisco spray was compromised when it struck the yellow sand containers and bridge support of the Brandywine overpass. The contents of the box trailer have spilled onto I-74 and will take some time for clean up and removal. An INDOT bridge inspector is also enroute to the scene to check the overpass for damage.
The driver of the Ohio passenger car was transported to a local hospital for observation. Troopers on the scene reported no one sustained any major injuries.
This investigation is very early and a cause of the crash has not been determined.
Motorists are advised to avoid this area as the crash investigation and cleanup is expected to take some time.
